HOW TO INSTALL VIRTUAL PINBALL (Indiana Jones)

Visual PinMAME and Visual Pinball are fast becoming a phenomenon in the emulation world.

VPinMAME has been around a while and though ground breaking in the emulation of pinball roms, it didn't really do much else. Then came Visual Pinball. Visual Pinball allows you to design realistic pinball tables including original graphics and realistic physics. It does it by using Visual Basic scripts and this is where VPinMAME comes in.

What the clever authors of VPinMAME did was to hook it into the scripts from Visual Pinball creating Visual PinMAME.What this did was to create a fusion of the realism of Visual Pinball with the accurate emulation of the original pinball game in Visual PinMAME. Just a quick warning though. If you are using anti virus software with script protection like Norton then you will get a warning message every time you run a table.

STEP 1 - Download all files

There a six files you need to successfully play Visual VPinMAME on you PC. Below you will find links to all six files.

1. Visual Pinball - This is the main program that creates and plays the tables.

2. VPinMAME - This program is soley designed to display the LED's on pinball

3. VB Scripts - Scripts to help Visual Pinball draw tables and communicate with VPinMAME

4. Indiana Jones Table- This file creates your Indiana Jones pinball table

5. Indiana Jones Sounds- This file creates your Indiana Jones pinball sounds

6. Indiana Jones VPinMAME LED - This file creates your Indiana Jones animation (LED)

STEP 2 - Install Visual Pinball

For this section you will need a copy of Winzip. You can get Winzip from here.

Simply double click on the Visual Pinball zipfile (visualPinball.zip) and wait for the Winzip window to open.

Unzip the files to c:\Visual Pinball

You now need to set up Visual Pinball. To do this you need to open your c:\Visual Pinball directory and double click on the setup file (VisualPinball.exe) and a couple of confirmation screens appear. Stop when you get to this screen (screen 1).

Please enter the following path
c:\Visual Pinball
and complete the installation.

STEP 3 - Install VPinMAME

To install VPinMAME you will first need to right click on the VPinMAME zipfile.
Unzip the files to c:\Visual Pinball\VPinMAME

You now need to set up VPinMAME. To do this you need to open your C:\Visual Pinball\VPinMAME directory and double click on the setup file (setup.exe). You will see the left screen (screen 1).

Click on the Install button and a couple of confirmation screens appear. Stop when you get to the next screen (screen 2).

As you will see all of the directories are setup for you, so all you need to do is click OK to continue.The next screen to pop up is for the Default Options (screen 3).

Here you can change the options used by VPinMAME when emulating pinball tables. Press OK when you're done and a small window will confirm that VPinMAME has been set up correctly. Press OK and you will return to the main setup screen. If you want to change any settings then you can access them from this screen. Close the setup screen to continue.

STEP 4 - Install VB Scripts

Right click on the VBS (vps.zip) zipfile and select extract to:
c:\Visual Pinball\Tables

STEP 5 - Install Indiana Jones table

You will need to copy the indianaJonesTable.vpt file in to:
c:\Visual Pinball\Tables directory.

STEP 6 - Install Indiana Jones sounds

You will need to copy the indianaJonesSounds.zip file in to:
c:\Visual Pinball\VPinMAME\Samples directory.

STEP 7- Install Indiana Jones VPinMAME LED

You will need to copy the ij_l7.zip file in to:
c :\Visual Pinball\VPinMAME\Roms directory.

STEP 8- PLAY INDIANA JONES PINBALL

Finally we are now getting to the fun bit. To play the Indiana Jones table go to the C:\Programme\Visual PinballPinball\Tables folder and double click on the indianaJonesTable.vpt file.

Enter - Plunger
SHIFT (right) - right flipper
SHIFT (left) - left flipper
SPACE - Tilt (center)
Escape - Exit Table
